M Pharm Pharmacy Practice

Pharmacy practice is a rewarding career in today’s expanding health care landscape. Our curriculum blends theory and practice, building a solid foundation in the medical and biological sciences while immersing students in real-world situations.

Preamble
Clinical Pharmacy Education and Department of Pharmacy Practice was established in the year 2022 to evolve the concept of clinical pharmacy through practice and education in Sanjo College of Pharmaceutical Studies, Palakkad, Kerala state, India and to focus on the importance of the involvement of practicing pharmacists in patient care. Clinical Pharmacy Practice was established through a model center for the practice of clinical pharmacy at our Paalana Hospital, Palakkad, a 300 bedded tertiary care hospital. The clinical pharmacy services to the hospital and other health care settings of this region achieved appreciation from the medical fraternity. The Department has established a very good infrastructure for clinical pharmacy practice and education/research. Our graduate trained students have been appointed in the different institutions/pharmacy/organizations/industries enabling clinical pharmacy concept/approach to be established in these settings. The Pharmacy Practice, patient-oriented course, objective of the Department is to impart patient oriented pharmacy education and train the students in Clinical Pharmacy Practice on par with international standards and to provide Clinical Pharmacy services at Paalana Hospital, Palakkad and other practice sites. The Department has well trained staff with adequate space and library facilities. Electronic databases with adequate number of computers, broadband internet facility, standard texts & references, national and international journals are available to patient care services.

M Pharm (Pharmaceutics)

Pharmaceutics is a branch of Pharmacy focusing on transforming new chemical entities (NCEs) or drugs into formulations that patients can safely and effectively use. Often called the science of dosage form design, it addresses the delivery of drugs in therapeutic amounts at their action sites to achieve desired pharmacological effects. Pharmaceutics encompasses the formulation of pure drug substances into dosage forms and connects drug formulation with their delivery and behaviour within the body. Our multidisciplinary department offers expertise in drug discovery, development, and evaluation.
